Medical Applications
A.R.T. has participated in several projects on using tracking technology in medical applications such as tomography, operation planning, and navigation. The following examples shall serve as a short overview of the different fields of application.
Magnetic Resonance Tomography (MRT)
Correlation of patient's movements (esp. breathing, motion) and MR scans during image acquisition allows to reduce motion artifacts (see FhG IGD).

Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
Correlation of patient's movements (esp. breathing, motion) and PET data during image acquisition (see FZ Rossendorf).

Virtual Surgery Planning System
The liver surgery planning system (LSPS) is addressing obstacles associated with surgical planning of segment oriented liver resections based on CT data (see Institut for Computer Graphics and Vision, TU Graz/Austria).

Augmentation and Navigation
Additional intra-operative information for surgeons in the form of 3D CT images, ultrasound, etc. via head-mounted display (see NARVIS, see VRVis).
